4 Things I Learned From Going Vegan for a Month

Like so many other people all over the world, I’ve been doing my research into the benefits of going vegan, and I decided to test it out by going vegan for just one month. It’s a short enough commitment, but it’s also long enough to help me determine if this diet could really change the way that I feel. The results of my month-long vegan journey are below.

1. Eating Clean Really Does Make You Feel Better!

When I decided to go vegan for a month, I wanted to make sure that I did it right. I wasn’t about to be one of those junk food vegans who ate cookies just because they’re vegan, or who bought a ton of veggie hot dogs, veggie burgers, and frozen foods to prepare for dinner. By focusing on collecting whole food recipes, I was able to eat clean for the first time in a long time. And, guess what, I felt really energized!

2. It’s Easier and More Affordable Than You Think!

A lot of people worry that going vegan will cause them to spend more money at the grocery store, but if you’re focused on purchasing whole food ingredients, you can actually buy a lot of food for a low price, and that food can last a long time, allowing you to make several meals throughout the week. Plus, eating vegan is surprisingly easy. A smoothie in the morning with chia seeds and frozen strawberries gave me energy and made me feel full until lunch. For dinner, I could veganize just about any meal that I wanted, thanks to all of the vegan dairy products and meat alternatives out there.

3. I Lost Weight

By eliminating fatty foods that come from animal products, I also eliminated a lot of excess calories and cholesterol. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that I naturally started losing weight without even really trying. Again, I made it a point to eat clean and prepare meals using whole food ingredients, so that definitely helped me slim down.

4. My Skin Cleared Up

While I was doing my research into veganism, I read a lot about the effects of dairy on your skin. Many people who ditch dairy products find that their skin clears up. Even as an adult, I still have too many pimples on my face, and my face feels too greasy. At the end of my month-long vegan journey, though, I have to say that my skin really does glow. It’s clearer and smoother.

In the end, I’ll stick to my vegan diet, and I highly recommend that you also consider going vegan if you want to do something great for your body and the planet.
